How should I wash my linen or cotton pieces?Updated 4 months ago
Linen and cotton are beautiful, breathable fabrics - perfect for everyday wear. To help your garments last longer and retain their shape and colour, follow these tips:
Always check the care label:
Each item can be a little different! Some may be machine washable, while others recommend hand washing. We always recommend following the care label instructions first.
Washing tips to keep it looking fresh:
Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle
Use a mild detergent (preferably one designed for natural fibres)
Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that can fade or weaken the fabric
Wash with similar colours to prevent dye transfer
Turn garments inside out before washing to preserve colour and reduce surface wear
Drying and reducing creasing:
For best results, air dry on a hanger to let gravity naturally pull out wrinkles
Alternatively, lay flat on a drying rack in the shade
Avoid tumble drying as it can cause shrinkage and stiffen the fibres
If needed, give it a light steam or press with an iron on low — for linen, use steam while the item is still slightly damp
How to retain shape:
Reshape garments while damp
Don’t over-wash - both linen and cotton benefit from occasional airing out rather than frequent washing
Fold rather than hang heavy cotton knits to avoid stretching
