How do I care for delicate knits or fluffy fabrics?Updated 4 months ago
Caring for your beautiful knitwear helps it stay soft, keep its shape, and last season after season. Here's how to get the most out of your favourite pieces:
Pilling is a natural part of wear, especially in soft, fluffy yarns. To minimise this:
Avoid wearing your knit under jackets or bags that cause friction
Gently de-pill using a fabric comb or knitwear shaver if needed - never pull pills off by hand
Wash inside a mesh wash bag to reduce surface abrasion
Wash gently (and not too often):
Over-washing can stress fibres and lead to stretching or fuzziness.
Spot clean small marks where possible
When it’s time to wash, choose a cold, gentle cycle or hand wash
Always use a delicates detergent - ideally one made for wool or knitwear
Pop your knit in a mesh laundry bag for machine washes
Dry it right:
Lay your knit flat on a clean towel, reshaping it as it dries
Avoid wringing or hanging while wet - this can stretch the fabric
Never tumble dry
Storage tips:
Fold rather than hang to keep the shape intact
Store in a breathable cotton bag or drawer (not plastic)
If storing for the season, ensure it’s clean and dry before packing away
